Guangzhou Metro Line 18 is one of the lines under construction by Guangzhou Metro. It connects Guangzhou East Railway Station in Tianhe District of Guangzhou with Wanqingsha District in Nansha District of Guangzhou.
Guangzhou Metro Line 18 starts from Wanqingsha hub in Nansha District and Mingzhu Bay starting area, connecting Tianhe, Haizhu, Panyu, Nansha and other districts in Guangzhou [1]. It passes through Mingzhu Bay, central urban area of Panyu District, e-commerce district of West Pazhou District, CBD of Zhujiang New Town, and ends at the hub of Guangzhou East Railway Station.
The line runs roughly north-south.
Guangzhou Metro Line 18 is 62.7 kilometers long and is planned to be extended.
The southern extension is 89.6 km long and the northern extension is 38.5 km long.
Guangzhou Metro Line 18 (Guangzhou East Station - Wanqingsha) is entirely underground, with 9 stations, all of which are underground stations.
The train adopts 8 D-type municipal express subway trains [2-3].
By the end of November 2020, 85% of the civil construction of the whole Line 18 has been completed [4] (Guangzhou East Railway Station is currently preparing for construction and is expected to open to traffic in 2022).
On December 13, a press conference was held to promote the transfer of the three powers. It is expected that the commissioning period will be carried out in March 2021, and the operation will be put into operation on June 28, 2021.
According to the plan, the northern extension of Line 18 will be extended to Tiangui Station (Huacheng Street Station) in Huadu District, and a link line will be set up to connect Guangzhou-Qing Intercity Railway.
The southern section will extend from the cities of Zhongshan and Zhuhai to the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge area.
